Parents/Guardians - How to Set Up an Observer Account

To create a Canvas Observer account, which allows you to observe your child or a student’s progress on Canvas (the learning management system used by many schools and universities), you will need to follow this general guide to creating an Observer account on Canvas:
  1. First, ask your student to log into their Canvas account and generate a pairing code. Student Instructions are listed below in the student section.
  2. Go to Layton Christian Academy's Canvas (Click Here)
  3. On the top right hand corner of the login screen, select "Parent of a Canvas User? Click Here for an Account"
  4. Fill out the information that is required by Canvas Instructure.
    • You may choose any personal email you want to use in order to access this feature.
    • It will ask for a student pairing code, this is accessed on the student's Canvas account in their settings. The best way to access this is by getting your child logged into Canvas and going into their User Settings. For more information, you can go to the "How to Set Up a Student Canvas Account" for students
    • You are able to observe multiple students at a time, but require a separate pairing code for each student
    • Parents/Guardians are unable to share the same pairing code
  5. Once you create an account, you can log in using the Layton Christian Academy's Canvas.
