What makes Layton Christian different?

It is important to be aware that there are many very different types of educational programs are all categorized as “online learning.” In many occasions the only similarity between these programs is the word “online” and nothing else. At Layton Christian Academy our online education programs are considerably different from many other online programs currently available.

Many other online education providers have taken their existing textbook curriculum and products and simply just placed the materials online, thereby calling themselves “an online school.” Layton Christian Academy is considerably different in that every aspect of our school, from curriculum, instruction, classrooms, administration, etc. has been custom designed from the ground up for a strategic delivery online educational content.  Please do not be fooled by many of the other online programs which merely offer pre-recorded video lectures and/or an eBook curriculum.

Layton Christian Academy provides teacher to work individually with each student to provide valuable academic support when needed. In many other programs you run the risk of enrolling in a program that literally does not have a teacher for your child.

Many other programs do not provide live teacher support.  If other programs do provide teachers, they are often only “mentors” who are available by email or phone only.  These mentors in other programs may or may not be credentialed professionals, or they may be college students serving as tutors.  Some programs outsource their support help to India.

Layton Christian Academy’s primary and sole focus is to deliver a high-quality Christian education using the internet as a tool.  From the very beginning, our program was designed to use internet technology to its fullest extent.

Layton Christian Academy has very rigorous systems of accountability that keep students on task and regularly report their performance. Parents can access students’ grades 24 hours a day in addition to receiving a weekly report.  The school regularly evaluates students’ progress on a schoolwide basis and intervenes when more accountability is needed.

The education program offered by Layton Christian Academy is radically different and significantly above the standards of our competitors. Other programs may use the same phrase “online school” and charge similar rates but they do not offer the same quality. Please take a moment to consider why LCA is right for you.

The educational philosophy of Layton Christian Academy is based on a God-centered view of truth and man as presented in the Bible. Since God created and sustains all things through His Son, Jesus Christ, the universe and all life are dynamically related to God and have the purpose of glorifying Him. This is pointedly true of man who is made in God’s image, different in kind from all other creation, with the unique capacity to know and respond to God personally and voluntarily. Because man is a sinner by nature and choice, however, he cannot in this condition know or honor God in his life. He can do this only by being born again to do God’s will, which is the ultimate purpose of this life.

The entire process of education is seen as a means used by the Holy Spirit to bring the student into fellowship with God, to develop a Christian mind in him and to train him in Godly living, so that he can fulfill God’s total purpose for this life personally and vocationally. He must be taught the Bible so he may understand God as well as his own nature and role as God’s image; he must be developed, and relate to God, as a whole person, spiritually, mentally, physically and socially; he must learn to see all truth as God’s truth and to integrate it with and interpret it by God’s Word; he must be educated as an individual with his own unique abilities and personality who must learn to live and work with others at home, in the church and in a changing secular society; and he must interact with and be taught by parent and teacher models who are, themselves, born again and have this perspective on life.

The authority for such an education comes both from God’s command that children be taught to love God and place Him first in their lives, and from the fact that parents are responsible for the total education and training of their children. At the parents’ request, the Christian school, along with the church, becomes a partner in giving this education.

Our online school serves a variety of families that need a more flexible academic schedule, personalized education, or a remote education for homeschoolers and missionaries. Together we can make a difference in the life of your child!

Some students find the flexibility of an online program enables them to pursue their professional careers as musicians, athletes, actors, and other pursuits. Others find the greater flexibility meets their need to hold a job alongside of their schoolwork. Some students have health issues that prevent them from attending the traditional brick and mortar classroom but are not hindered in a virtual environment. Still others find the increasing dangers, atmosphere, and low standards of the local school system can be circumvented by attending high school online.

No matter what the circumstances, all our students share one thing in common; a strong desire to learn that flourishes in a supportive, flexible, virtual environment.
