Thank you for your interest in Layton Christian Academy.

We have 500 total students in the school. For 2019-20 there were 260 students in high school. About half of those were international students from 34 different countries. Rwanda is our largest group outside of the US, followed by Brazil.  We have boarding for grades 6 and above.  We also have a gap-year program for students who have finished schooling in their home country but want to do a year of high school in the US prior to entering a college or university.

We have a long tradition of African students at LCA. Over 75 attended LCA in 2019-20 and over 150 have graduated from LCA over the years(most of these students were from Rwanda), 55 of them were here last year and over 100 have graduated from LCA. We are honored that you considering joining that tradition and would be most happy to meet you if you should join our community.
The new school year will begin on August 18, 2021.  If you are behind on credits from the past year’s pandemic, or you want to ensure that you have all the credits you need for graduation, I would suggest that you begin doing online work immediately so that you can begin earning credits right away. It also has the added benefit of you already having credits at LCA when you do your visa interview.
New Online options We also have an online option for students who want or need to remain in their home country but still want to study with LCA and work toward a high school diploma. You can also do this for make-up credits.
I have included materials for our Residential program.
The Residential program pricing includes tuition, housing, meals, local transportation, curriculum/lab fees, and insurance.  The normal pricing for this is $28,250. Currently, we have financial assistance available for students from East Africa in the amount of $10,750. This means you would pay $17,500 for the school year for the Residential program.
One item I would like to point out. We may be able to get you as an international student eligible to receive in-state tuition prices at any state college or university in Utah. The reason for this is that Utah has a law whereby if an international student attends a Utah school for three years and graduates, they receive in-state tuition prices.  So, students who are sophomores or younger can take advantage of this.
To give you an idea of the savings with this program, Weber State University’s tuition last year was $14,500 for international students, but only $5000 for Utah residents. The University of Utah was $26,500 for international students and only $8500 for Utah residents. An international student who attended a Utah high school for at least 3 years and graduated would be considered a Utah resident as far as pricing goes. This would mean they would save $9000 per year at Weber State and $18,000 at the University of Utah. That means they would save over four years $36,000 at Weber State and $72,000 at the University of Utah.
We also have access to partial scholarship opportunities to various universities based on student achievement even if the student has attended LCA for less than three years.
We just signed a new agreement with Southern Utah University that offers our graduates a very generous scholarship if they have a B average.
