At LCA we love learning about Jesus and praying to Him in our classrooms. Our curriculum is mostly Bob Jones, a Christian curriculum and we enjoy chapel every Friday!
Chapel is a fun way for LCA to reinforce God’s love! Kids from Preschool to 5th grade enjoy our “crazy” Chapel time. It’s not uncommon to see children jumping up and down, raising their hands, clapping and, yes, even shouting out praises to the Lord.
Chapels are held every Friday from 9:00 am to 10:00 am in the Children’s Center, and are theme-related, including stories from the Bible. We begin with praise and worship where our kids join in with clapping, laughing, singing and lots of jumping. After we have the adrenaline pumping we pray and encourage the children to pray for not only their own needs but the needs of others in our school, in their homes, community and even the world.
Teachers continue with the object lessons. Each teacher focuses in a different way to teach the children how God would like us to be in today’s crazy world. Kids are often seen helping the teachers reinforce those object lessons. Imagine having a 5 yr old talk to you about God’s love. That is truly inspiring. It’s not uncommon to see people dressed in crazy costumes and even a very large walking and talking stuffed animal. Parents and guests are not only welcome but also encouraged to come to our Chapels. Be aware though, parents and guests have been known to participate in the Chapel fun too! Before the end of each chapel, a story is read again reinforcing what we have learned that day. There are other surprises that happen during Chapel, like birthday announcements or special recognition for superior efforts. Good Eagle Awards are drawn at the conclusion of Chapel where the children’s good behavior or good deeds are recognized.
Chapel is a great way for our LCA family to stay connected with each other. What a unique way in making a school, a home. Instead of just having teachers and students, we now have a large family with loving adults and wonderful children!
